PROGRAM: PRODUCT AND APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
Custom software built for learning, from first release to enterprise scale
Unicon helps organizations build and modernize software for the realities of the education to workforce marketplace.
What slows education software down
Institutions need single sign-on, role-based access, auditability, and clear privacy posture as part of normal adoption, not as follow-on work
Integration complexity grows quickly across SIS, LMS, IAM, and third-party systems, often slowing delivery and creating rework
Product teams spend cycles handling institution-specific data models, workflows, and edge cases instead of advancing the core product
AI capabilities are planned, but data access, permissions, and governance models are not yet defined
Existing platforms need to be extended or re-architected without disrupting current institutional users
How we support product delivery
1. Build the right foundation
Design and deliver new applications with the right foundation from the start.
Unicon supports the full lifecycle from discovery through initial release, aligning product design, architecture, and engineering with the realities of education environments. Identity, interoperability, and data considerations are built into the system from day one.
3. Modernize without disruption
Modernize existing platforms while maintaining continuity for institutional users.
Unicon helps teams evaluate current systems, reduce operational overhead, and execute phased modernization strategies. This improves maintainability and extensibility without forcing disruptive transitions.
2. Deliver on the roadmap
Advance critical product priorities without overloading internal teams.
Unicon works alongside your team to deliver focused roadmap initiatives, including integrations, identity workflows, reporting, and security capabilities. Work is scoped and executed to remove bottlenecks and keep product progress moving.
4. Ready for institutional adoption
Prepare your application for institutional review and adoption.
Unicon brings together identity, access, provisioning, auditability, privacy, and reporting into a cohesive capability set. This allows product teams to move through security review and procurement with fewer delays and clearer answers.
5. Move AI from concept to deployment
Deliver AI capabilities that align with institutional expectations.
Unicon helps define and implement AI-driven features tied to real workflows, while establishing the data access controls, permissions, and governance required for responsible use in education environments.
What progress looks like
|
30 days |
Discovery is complete, key identity and integration requirements are defined, and a phased delivery plan is established with clear technical direction. |
|
90 days |
A working release or demo-ready application is delivered with core identity and integration capabilities in place, supporting early institutional engagement. |
|
6 months |
The platform is in production or ready for launch, with a stable foundation and internal teams prepared to operate and extend the system. |
Under 90 days
From kickoff to a demo-ready platform for scoped product builds aligned to an academic term
Up to 10X
Typical expansion from initial engagement into broader product, platform, or modernization work
30 to 50%
Reduction in time to a production-ready foundation compared to typical delivery timelines
From concept to classroom: Delivering a special education platform in one term
A national education services organization needed to bring a new special education platform to market on a tight timeline. The platform had to support educator-facing workflows, risk scoring, AI-generated explanations, and strong privacy controls, all within the expectations of education environments.
Unicon partnered with the organization to design and deliver the product in phased milestones aligned to the academic calendar. That approach gave the client a clear path from concept to working software while keeping the project grounded in real delivery checkpoints instead of open-ended product planning.
The work went beyond core application development. Unicon also created a sales-ready demonstration environment, giving the organization something credible to show stakeholders while the broader platform took shape. Governance and privacy requirements were addressed as part of the build, so those materials were ready alongside the product rather than becoming a cleanup project later.
The result was a platform delivered within a single academic quarter. Just as important, the organization came out of the engagement with a product that was easier to evaluate internally, easier to present externally, and better prepared for adoption.
