Today is Yandere Simulator’s 12th anniversary! Happy anniversary, everyone!
I’ve got a new build and a huge blog post for you today. The blog post covers a lot of topics, from the YouTube channel terminations to new Amai content. But, first, there’s something I’ve got to tell you about!
I put something special into the game to honor the game’s 12th anniversary! I want it to be a surprise, so I don’t want to describe it here in this blog post; instead, I want you to play the game and experience it for yourself!
To experience the anniversary surprise, go to Ayano’s room and type “A N N I V E R S A R Y” on your keyboard. If you see a firework explode, you’ll know that you’ve activated the surprise! After that…simply go to school!
After you’ve experienced it, you can scroll down to the bottom of this blog post to read about it and why I added it to the game!

I’ve prepared a new build for you! I’m just going to let you know up front that it’s not a huge update; it’s mainly a bunch of bug fixes. But, hey, on the bright side, now that I’ve gotten all of these bug fixes out of the way, it means that now I can focus more of my time on improving Amai’s week, as planned!

How did I not know about this video until now?! It’s awesome!!
There were a few bugs in the previous build that were *very* easy for the average player to stumble across. Yikes! I’ve decided to upload a bug-fixing build with those issues resolved.

Hey! Got a new build for you – really curious to know what the reaction is going to be to this one.
3,314 days ago, I proposed an addition to the game. I implemented the most simple possible version of the feature, and never really revisited the idea. In this build, I’ve returned to that old concept, and implemented a “prototype” that represents an expanded version of the feature.
Just what am I talking about? To find out, scroll down past this absolutely precious artwork of Jokichi holding baby Ayano drawn by EDEL, and click Continue Reading!
This was baffling to everyone, since it wasn’t clear how footage of Yandere Simulator gameplay could possibly be interpreted as supporting a violent criminal organization.
I’ve been working together with a YouTube Partner Manager to provide the Policy Team with lists of Yandere Simulator YouTube channels that appear to have been terminated in error. To date, 60 of these channels have been restored. (If your channel hasn’t been restored yet, please be patient.)
The Policy Team is notorious for not directly engaging in conversations with creators, and only communicating by quoting the community guidelines. However, after repeatedly challenging the Policy Team’s decision to remove a specific video that seemed harmless, we finally managed to get a response that contains meaningful information.

(I usually credit the artist when I share artwork, but in this particular case, the artist didn’t tell me what name they wished to be credited by. Oops! If you’re the artist of this art, please reach out to me again and let me know how you’d like to be credited!)
Every year, I write a “Transparency Post” on Patreon. In these posts, I try to be as transparent as possible about factors that are slowing down the game’s development, obstacles I’m facing, etc.
That post is now up on my Patreon, but I’ve decided to write part of it here, because I’d like to communicate some of my thoughts using images and videos, and Patreon doesn’t allow me to embed images/videos within posts.
The primary goal of this post is to answer the three questions I hear the most frequently: “What’s taking so long?” “When’s Kizana?” and “When will the game be done?”
These questions can’t be answered honestly without acknowledging some very unpleasant topics. I generally try to avoid ever discussing anything negative in my blog posts, and I try to only share positive news: my latest progress.
As a matter of principle, I never discuss the obstacles I’m facing, because I don’t want to seem whiny. However, when I deliberately avoid ever talking about certain things, it makes me feel like I’m hiding things from you. It feels very opaque; the opposite of transparent.
This is not the “Smile And Pretend Everything Is Okay” Post; this is the “Transparency” Post, so I’m going to be transparent, even if it means talking about negative things that I usually avoid mentioning.
Last year, multiple Yandere Simulator YouTubers suddenly had their accounts terminated. Why? The official reason given by YouTube was just three words long: “Violent Criminal Organizations.” No further details were provided. If the YouTuber submitted an appeal, explained that the termination was in error, and asked for their channel to be reinstated, the appeal was automatically rejected.
Several people reached out to me and asked me to “do something.” However, I felt as though there was nothing I could possibly do. All of my previous attempts to right wrongs on YouTube ended in failure. In the past, whenever I reported a problem to YouTube, they ignored me or just gave me an automated response that didn’t actually address the issue. I figured that there was no point whatsoever in even attempting to talk to anyone at YouTube; I’d just be met with silence, or an automated reply. My faith in YouTube was at zero.
Two days ago, one of my favorite Yandere Simulator YouTubers had his channel terminated. This guy had been making extremely high-effort, high-quality content for years. Seeing any YouTuber’s channel get wrongfully terminated infuriates me, but seeing this guy lose his channel was an especially painful punch to the gut. I decided that, even if there was only a 1% chance of being heard, I had to at least try to talk to someone at YouTube about this.
YouTube never assigned a “Partner Manager” to me – but, back in 2018, I did actually speak with a Partner Manager working at YouTube to report a problem. The last time we spoke was in 2022, but I decided to reach out to him, describe the “Violent Criminal Organizations” problem, and ask for help.
I knew that this was a long shot. Maybe he didn’t even work for YouTube anymore. Maybe he would tell me that I’m not allowed to report an issue on behalf of another channel. Maybe he would simply decide to ignore my e-mail.
However, I got lucky: he responded, he asked for some details, and he said that he’d ask the Policy Team to investigate.
48 hours later, the YouTuber’s terminated channel was reinstated.
Whoa!! Holy heck!! GOOD news for once!! Lately, it has felt like every event that happens in my life is just bad news after bad news after bad news – but, finally, we got a win!!! And here’s the best part: the Partner Manager has offered to build a case for other wrongfully terminated channels, as well!
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore! Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me! I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
…what I’m trying to say is – if you or someone you know has had their Yandere Sim YouTube channel wrongfully terminated, I might be able to help! In order to do that, I’m going to need two things:
Channel Name
Channel URL
An example of a properly-formatted Channel URL is looks like this:
I initially planned to post my annual Transparency Report within the first few days of January. I know everything I want to say and how I want to say it, but it has been very difficult to find a block of free time to actually sit down and write the post. I apologize to anyone who is waiting for that post with bated breath, but I feel very confident that it’ll happen before February.
In the meantime, here’s an update! To read a list of everything that was added / changed / fixed / improved, please scroll down past this beautiful artwork by l0tt.iie!
