About Me

What to say?

I’m originally from Dublin (Ireland), but spent half my childhood in Italy. Not that I ever spoke Italian particularly well; I had better German and Irish 😂

I then moved to Galway for an undergrad in Experimental Physics, and stayed on for a Master’s degree in Software Design and Development.

Software dev career

Between 2015 and 2023, I was a software developer in the telecoms industry. Really, all I did was write software for contact centres, mostly using Java and vanilla JavaScript.

And then in 2021 I got moved onto another project that was a mismatch of NodeJS/Ruby on Rails/React and even a bit of Python, all the way until I was part of a mass layoff in September 2023.

During the unexpected career break after that, I self-published a fantasy/Western novella, partly drawing on some of the agony of managing JavaScript packages with npm.

Game Development

I used Unity3D as a hobbyist, but in 2024 I moved to Godot after Unity’s now infamous (and stupid) decisions about adding Runtime Fees.

My first commercial game, Turret Baffler, is a first-person stealth shooter which involves shooting cameras and other hazards from a safe distance.

Recently, I’ve been working on my second Godot project, Turscar Isle. This is slotted for release in July 2026.

Other

When I’m not making games or writing, I also play games. Mostly leaning towards scifi or historical settings like Halo, Hearts of Iron 4 or XCOM 2.
