I used to be the #1 CounterStrike player back in the 0.7 days (when it was just a great mod for Half-Life and ranking was tracked via a 3rd party website that I can’t remember). It only lasted like two months but it was such a fun time in my life… I used to travel around New England crushing everyone at LAN parties.

That was a long time ago.

Now I’m the #1 Beat Saber player at the ripe old age of 47! Don’t believe me?

    https://beatleader.com/ranking/1?sortBy=playCount 🤣

    I’ve never paused. Not once!

I also have a… special skill that only about 3-4 other Beat Saber players have (in the whole world!). You can see it demonstrated in this masterpiece of a replay:

    https://replay.beatleader.com/?scoreId=20010657

    …but here’s my highest-PP play:

    https://replay.beatleader.com/?scoreId=17128036

Second highest is a bit more impressive though, IMHO:

    https://replay.beatleader.com/?scoreId=27221909

(Take into account that I never pause while watching that)

Are you doing it with your back turned to the screen?

The replay must be faulty then because it shows the VR headset facing the other way multiple times.

The headset stays on my face. In order for it to be facing my back, my neck would have to turn 180° (like an owl).

Just finished Silksong act 3. At nearly 50 years old I felt pretty badasses for being able to complete it without cheating or mods.

Congrats, that’s a huge achievement! Silksong is amazing, but hard enough that a good number of players won’t be able to finish Act 3.

That was a while ago, but at some point I was “quite good” on my main champion (Leona) on League of Legends. I would usually be able to make a few plays per game, and sometimes win a few team fights.

Obviously, I was probably mostly playing with other very low level players, but it was still nice.

It was on MK Wii back in 2016. Faced off against 2 Japanese players and managed to beat them only by one point in battle mode. Was the highlight of my life basically. Never been the same since.

I recently got into Masters with Cammy in Street Fighter 6. It made me think I was pretty good until I started playing other Masters players, and then I realized I am trash at this game LOL

Did you block at all or only dodge? Beating Lies of P without blocking at all sounds…very hard.

No blocking, just dodging. Was hell, tbh I couldn’t beat the true ending boss, literally 0 openings without parrying. But did beat the normal final boss.

Silksong, end of act I boss. I watched footage of that boss several times to learn their moves until the whole fight was so legible that it ended before I even got “in the zone”. It forced me to pay more close attention to enemy animations and sounds, and it made me a better player. I’m still a bit of a scrub, but I’ve developed a better eye for my own shortcomings and how to deal with those.

A couple of days ago on Cube2:Sauerbraten FPS.

Twitch guess shots that hit, through tree-cover guess shots that are on, and being slippery during flagruns to confuse opponents(or use up their mousepad space) before tagging them.

[ Did you like UT or Q3 back in the day? Then give it a go, an excellent FOSS FPS]

I was getting pretty decent at Deadlock last year. Not enough to mix with the top ranked players but enough to be in the rightward slope of the bell curve. When I was playing with friends or acquaintances I’d made in the game I’d consistently be one of the top performers of the team, and I would regularly carry games both with performance but also shot calling over mic.

Unfortunately the hyperfixation abated and I haven’t touched the game since like January.

Street Fighter EX in the arcade. A stranger challenged me, and I beat him 12 times in a row until he rage quit.

Dance Dance Revolution I attracted a small crowd watching me.

Tetris on Gameboy when I completed it for the first time.

I was ranked 33rd in the world on a drifting course in a gran turismo game a number of years ago, and I did it in a stock car. All the other top scores were set by people tuning the ever loving crap out of them.
