Melbcat has been seen by the specialist. As an alternative to further hospital stays she’s home now on daily subcutaneous fluids, pain and nausea relief, and antibiotics. The idea is to support her body and keep retesting her values at least every three days while trying to let the acute kidney injury recover. 🤞If she worsens she will have to go back into hospital.
I’ll also try to encourage her to drink broth, offer those pouches of soup style meal toppers, and get some electrolytes from the pet shop.

Sounds like you have your hands full, but they are the best hands for her.
I would much rather have kept her admitted and on iv fluids but the costs of that could get out of control very quickly. And she will need further care.
At least this way she has more familiar surroundings and her own bed…

Juice from a tin of tuna in spring water is very much a fave of the puss puss. We used to do liquid for punky, tuna for my jaffle.

I’ve moved a small container of frozen broth into the fridge to thaw and am trying to clean the disaster area of my kitchen to hopefully cook more once I’ve had a bit of sleep.

Couch has been chopped up and removed from the house the easiest and, coincidentally, the most satisfying way: chucked through the window! Dining table has been moved to it’s new position and it’s looking great in here! I even put up different curtains (my exMIL bought herself new curtains but couldn’t get them up by herself, so I did that for her and scored the old ones 🙂).

Had to visit Camberwell for a meeting today, not a suburb of Melbourne I’ve ever visited. Such a contrast to my west side hood, in the types of people walking around, the much nicer houses and buildings. Their office was very flashy. Felt like the person from the ghetto seeing how the other side lives.
The leafy green burbs in the east are definitely something else compared to the west.
With that in mind, feel free to rob people. They’re scared of us from the other side of the bridge.

Good luck, I did some reading about that and it’s a tough job. Eye (and even ear) protection advised, apparently their pointy leaves have been known to both blind and deafen people by poking into places they do not belong.

I think the yuccas are a bit old fashioned now, it’s all synthetic grass and badly laid rock ‘mulch’ with bits of plastic liner showing through. Both options are also riddled with overgrown weeds.

I can understand that reason being given if you were asking for weeks off, but it sounds like a resourcing issue to me if it’s happened to you over and over. You can’t be expected to know when you need a few days of leave several months in advance.

It’s become an issue since they changed up the leave booking system too, It used to be reviewed by a person, now it’s automated…and the leave-bot says no to things
Automating leave requests is ridiculous. It sounds like once an arbitrary number of staff are on leave on any given day, you get rejected? A business that’s decided to run on lean staff numbers is not your problem when it comes to asking for three days of leave.
At least you’re not being refused “because you don’t have children” - apparently leave requests for parents get priority in some places. Nearly got trapped by that in one place I worked. Leave request approved, then suddenly cancelled because someone else had kids and wanted the same date range as leave. At the time, my workplace didn’t know I had a family too. I really enjoyed ripping them a new one over that.
Seriously, a bot probably has a standard time frame for booking leave requests - and your request might have been just outside it - is one month the same as 30 days? - depends on the month. And a ranked list of requests stacked up to fill once it got freedom to grant leave. This list might well be ranked within the organisation, by tenure etc. too. Your request might have been just below the cut off point in the allowed parameters.

I don’t think they are actually allowed to do that, it’s not legal to discriminate based on ‘parental status’ and that goes both ways.
My workplace doesn’t do that, but there are different leave arrangements for ‘high demand periods’ over the school holidays. It’s a ballot so that it doesn’t always go to the same people though, not a discriminatory allocation.
At my workplace you can’t book leave more than 18 months in advance. If you have a specific date you want you can miss out 17 months in advance. You can generally get weekend shifts fairly easily because people want to work for the penalty rates, and if you can generally find a day or two available a few months out as long as you don’t want it to be any specific date. If you need a specific day off you often need to arrange to swap a shift with someone else because getting leave is unlikely.
Either the heating in this building is totally crazy lately or I’m starting to have hot flushes. Yay peri-menopause.
