I think he’s talking about how the Black Swam is WA’s emblem. I had never thought about it before, I suppose I am happy enough with the Wedge-tailed eagle being the mascot, given the rest of the avian avatars (magpies, hawks, swans) in the league.
The new WA NRL team is going to be the bears though and I think it’s a huge opportunity lost when they could be the Quokkas! Given the Quokka’s global popularity, they’d have a huge merchandise opportunity from the very first - and possibly a global fanbase.
