Because it’s essentially what you’re saying in subtext.

No, I didn’t imply any of this.

I’m not sure what you mean. I don’t like any of the media we mentioned in this dialogue. Not because of where they get their funding, but because of their content. I explained why I don’t like TASS in this comment section above.

I’ll assume whatever media source that confirms my bias is trustworthy

Why are you making up what I think?

PBS, NPR, CSPAN, VoA, RadioFree, etc

I realized that I wrote “state media” when I meant “state-owned.” The media you listed are state-funded, while TASS is state-owned. But that’s not the point. I’m not a native speaker, so sometimes what I say might not be entirely clear. I’m saying that some sources are worse than others. I don’t like TASS or RT, similar to the mentioned Fox News - you can see my comment above as an example of why.

  • I think they’re banned for similar reasons to why Fox News articles are banned. I agree with your comment above - the source doesn’t necessarily make something false. It would be silly for any outlet to post only misinformation. But some sources are worse than others. I wouldn’t read any news about Ukraine from either Ukrainian or Russian state-owned sources. They’re one sided to the extreme.

Regarding alt right - that might be a stretch, yeah. They’re conservative (for example, they’re anti-LGBT because it’s banned by the law) and telling how’re liberating Ukrainian people. But I don’t think it’s qualified as alt-right.

I know this. I just don’t think state-controlled media is much different from corporate media under oligarchy. US don’t have state media (edit: state-owned, not just state-funded) as far as I know, but if they were, those media would simply change bias toward the ruling party.

I mentioned Fox News because they feel similar in spirit: conservative and usually not trustworthy.

  • Looking forward to the community visibility feature.

There are bots on Lemmy that duplicate posts from sources like Reddit. They usually post into special locked communities on dedicated instances (such as lemmit.online). Most instances have banned these bots to avoid flooding the local feed with high-volume bot reposts. And this makes perfect sense.

But with the ability to unlist a community, we probably won’t need to ban such bots and can instead ask their authors to unlist those automated communities. This way, people who want to occasionally read posts from niche Reddit communities can still access them without hurting proper Lemmy growth.

  • I had the GameSir X2 back in the day. I really liked the aesthetic, but passthrough charging didn’t work with the PinePhone, and it also didn’t work at all with my Google Nexus (an old phone). Later, I switched to the Backbone One, and it worked perfectly with all the devices I had. So good drivers are important. But that was quite some time ago - I’m pretty sure many things have improved on the GameSir side. Later I sold both and switched to a dedicated device.

I’d watch a recent video from Russ about phone controllers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYElqO7EdXo He mentions the Taco one, it indeed looks cute 🙂
