I can’t speak from a Muslim perspective, but I can speak from an ex-christian fundamentalist perspective and I think that sometimes, even when we’ve made progress it can be hard to let go of some of the beliefs that direct affect you.

I stopped being a Christian when I became an adult but when I got pregnant I still held tightly to the belief that abortion was murder. I felt it was fine for others to go and do because we all have the right to choose what we do with our bodies, I knew women who’d had abortions, and I never once thought I would go to hell for it, but after a lifetime of conditioning it just felt wrong for me to do. Now I wouldn’t hesitate to get an abortion if I needed one.

Even when one has unpacked the luggage, it can take some time to reorganize it all and discard what you don’t need.

Trying to use AI to do my job would honestly only make my job more stressful. It is a very detail oriented job and I do not trust AI to do it for me and I’m not willing to risk my job over having it done wrong, at least if I’m replaced I get severance and shit, if I’m fired I get squat.

The company I work for is pushing Claude and have set up a bunch of training sessions for us after noticing the lack of use instructing us to plan to attend one of these sessions. I keep ignoring every push they make. Why the hell would I train this hallucinating liar to take my job? It’s crazy to expect us to use the thing they want to eventually replace us with.

They want every woman to be a Michelle Duggar - get married as a minor, start popping them out ASAP, and keep the Xerox machine running until someone dies.

It doesn’t cause the blood sugar to spike the same way as sugar does if I understand it correctly. Sugars and carbs come in different forms that get processed differently by the body. I’m no foodologist by any means though so I could be completely misunderstanding.

This is potentially dangerous. Maple syrup gets used a sugar replacement in a lot of things for a reason.

A cat in a wealthy, loving home. I’m not social enough to be a dog, and the way my cats laze about like they don’t have to worry about rent really induces a special kind of envy. As much as I enjoy the fact that my active parenting years are over, I have many regrets about being a young and stupid parent. Not sure we were ever ready for that shit.
