Workshop & Scrimmage

Workshop

Date: 10/28/18

Time: 8:00-12:00

Attendance: Justin, Tommy

Plans/Goals

  • Go to workshop
  • Scout other team’s designs and learn more about mechanical design.

What Was Accomplished

  • We got help from 8404 Quixilver in implementing the EnderCV/DogeCV vision libraries.
  • 8404 Quixilver shared some mechanical tips regarding electronics mounting.
  • We drove straight.
  • We got a basic working auto by driving straight into the crater, scoring anything between 25-50 points.
  • Learned about team’s materials and drive trains.

Notes/Additional Information

  • Our robot did not drive straight because our left motor was a Gobilda 50:1 and our right motor was a 25:1 due to a mechanical oversight. We will have to create a checklist for robot design to make sure such a mistake does not happen again.
  • Gears mounted to the motors had significant slippage issue dues to Tetrix set screw mounts.

Reflection/Takeaways

  • Removing the big arm helped with center of gravity and center of mass issues.
  • We need to more securely reinforce the drive train with extrusion since the front and back wheels have significant splay.
  • The side mounted rack and pinion
